Lerista — рід сцинкоподібних ящірок родини сцинкових (Scincidae). Представники цього роду є ендеміками Австралії.
Опис
Представники роду Lerista вирізняються великим різноманіттям у ступені редукованості кінцівок[8][9]. Вони можуть мати коротке тіло і розвинені, п'ятипалі лапи або мати видовжене тіло і повністю бути позбавленими ніг. Довжина тіла ящірок варіюється від 33 до 103 мм. Їх пересування залежить від форми тіла. Більш короткотілі сцинки з розвиненими кінцівками пересуваються по поверхні землі, а більш довготілі сцинки з короткими кінцівками, як правило, риються в ґрунті. Втрата кінцівок у цих сцинків відбулася відносно нещодавно, 3,6 млн років назад. Молекулярно-філогенетичне дослідження роду Lerista показало, що в цій групі втрата кінцівок відбувалася кілька разів.[10][11].
